      I covered why water is clear here if you want more detail on why small amounts of water are clear.

      The sea is blue because it is a large quantity of water that absorbs the rest of the light energy in visible light. It then reflects and scatters the blue light and that is what your eyes see. That light energy is then interpreted by your brain as blue.
