      Au, from the Latin ‘Aurum’.

      Quite a few other elements have symbols that come from Latin names. Important ones in biology are Sodium (Na, from the Latin “Natrium’) and Potassium (K, from the Latin “Kalium’). Silver (Ag, from ‘Argentum’) is Latin too.
